Copyright law can present issues for companies who may innocently use pictures (for example in the creation of website), text, music, or source code from the Internet without realizing that any of these things may be subject to Federal copyright protection.
Other hidden issues arising from copyright concerns (but not necessarily limited to copyright) may stem from the hiring of independent contractors to write code or produce artwork, logos, music or text – and using certain favored phrases (such as “work for hire”) which may present employment law issues.
This presentation will provide an overview of copyright law, and will identify a few of the traps for the unwary.
